There's a good chance of snow in the mountain areas around Tucson, and cold temperatures all around Friday night into Saturday morning.

TUCSON, AZ — Cooler weather is finally coming to Tucson, after a hotter-than-normal November and a warm start to December, according to the National Weather Service.

The Tucson area has a chance of strong winds and rain Thursday and rain on Friday. Higher elevations, like Mount Lemmon, have a chance of strong winds and snow Thursday and a chance of snow Friday.

In Tucson, there is a 70 percent chance of rain Thursday night and a 60 percent chance of rain Friday morning.

The strong winds Thursday night could cause unsecured outdoor objects to be blown away.

The weather service is forecasting an 80 percent chance of snow on Mount Lemmon Thursday night, with a continuing 70 percent chance into Friday morning.

Snow in mountain areas could result in slick roads late Thursday night, into Friday morning.

Both the city and higher elevations have a chance of cold temperatures Saturday morning that could endanger people experiencing homelessness and those without adequate heating in their homes, the weather service said.

The overnight low Friday into Saturday morning in Tucson is forecast at 36 degrees, with an expected low that night on Mount Lemmon of around 25 degrees.

If you live in the Tucson area, you'll probably want to bring any sensitive outdoor potted plants inside or cover them as they could be damaged by the Saturday morning cold.
