Coronavirus Outbreak Closes Pima County Attorney's Office

The Pima County Attorney's Office will remain closed through Tuesday following an outbreak of the coronavirus among staff members.

TUCSON, AZ — A coronavirus outbreak has left the Pima County Attorney's Office shuttered through Tuesday.

The office, located at 32 N. Stone Avenue in Tucson, said it will remain closed until after the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday due to a number of employees testing positive for the virus. A small number of senior staff members will work from the building, but 337 others will work remotely.

The office has been closed since Monday as crews clean and sanitize the building, according to a Wednesday news release. It is unclear how many staffers have contracted the virus.

“The extra time will give us all a chance to get tested, get our results, and, for those who have tested positive, additional time to heal and get well,” Pima County Attorney Laura Conover told employees during an office-wide Zoom meeting.

Conover said she tested negative for the virus Monday and the senior leadership team is currently being tested. All positive tests are being reported to the office's human resources department.
