Motorcyclist In Collision Near Tucson Mall Has Died
Motorcyclist Edward George Ward, 28, died Saturday from injuries sustained in a collision with a car near Tucson Mall Wednesday, police say.
TUCSON, AZ — The Tucson Police Department confirmed today that 28-year-old motorcyclist Edward George Ward, who was in a collision with a 2015 Ford Escape near Tucson Mall Wednesday, died Saturday from his injuries.
On Wednesday around 5:45 p.m., Ward was headed south in the curb lane on Oracle Road while the Ford driver was headed north on Oracle while in the left turn lane. Ward entered the intersection at the same time that the Ford driver was attempting to turn left, and the two collided.
Ward had a helmet on when the accident happened, but was seriously injured and taken to Banner University Medical Center after being administered to at the accident’s scene by the Tucson Fire Department.

Back at the scene, a DUI officer assessed the Ford driver and determined there was no impairment. Roadway evidence and police interviews additionally helped officers determine that speed didn’t cause the accident.
Police continue to investigate, and no citations or charges were issued to the Ford driver.
