TUCSON, AZ — The National Weather Service was warning the Tucson area Tuesday to be prepared for heavy rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Nora, leading to water flowing through normally-dry washes and flooded and impassible roads.

Nora moved up the western coast of Mexico this week, and is likely to bring multiple rounds of showers and storms Tuesday and Wednesday as it pushes north from the Gulf of California, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service warns of significant potential for flooding in washes, streets, highways, underpasses and low-lying areas. There is a flash flood watch in effect for the greater Tucson area from 11 a.m. Tuesday until early Thursday morning.
