Rain, Wind And Frost Are Headed For Tucson This Week: NWS

Areas near Tucson, even ones at lower elevations, could see snow this week. Mountain areas might get 6-10 inches.

TUCSON, AZ — Rain, wind, cold and possible snow flurries are headed for Tucson, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers are likely in Tucson between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m Wednesday, the weather service predicted.

The chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Skies were expected to remain mostly cloudy Wednesday, with a high around 57 degrees. The day was expected to start out with a south wind of 11-18 mph, changed to northwest in the afternoon. Gusts up to 29 mph are possible, according to the weather service.

The Wednesday night low is expected to be around 34 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent, the weather service said.

There is a chance of frost Thursday morning between 5-9 a.m., the weather service predicted. The Thursday night low is forecast at 30 degrees. There's also a chance of frost on Friday morning.

It's expected to remain cooler for the rest of the week, with highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s.

Mountain areas near Tucson, including Catalina, Rincon, Galiuro, Pinaleno and White Mountains could see 6-10 inches of snow Wednesday through Thursday morning, the weather service predicted.

Snow could drop to lower elevations east of Tucson Thursday morning, making for flurries or a mix of rain and snow.
