A native of New Zealand, Goatley grew up in Guatemala and El Salvador and speaks fluent Spanish. His experience includes customer service and technical support at Microsoft Corporation, in addition to ventures in banking and information technology.

Goatley has lived in Tucson for nine years and is involved in fund-raising and support for Young Life and with Zion City Care, a not-for-profit organization that provides food and clothing to those in need.
