Tucson Man Arrested In Connection With Roommate's Slaying: Police

​Jesus Lopez III was found laying in the road with an obvious gunshot wound in the 1000 block of West Miracle Mile, according to police.

TUCSON, AZ — A young man was shot to death just after midnight Saturday in Tucson, and his roommate was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to police.

Jesus Lopez III, 22, was found laying in the road with an obvious gunshot wound in the 1000 block of West Miracle Mile, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lopez's roommate, Sebastian Ricardo Mendivil-Lopez, also 22, was arrested and booked into Pima County Jail on suspicion of second degree murder and domestic violence, according to police.

The night began with a social gathering at the men's shared residence, police said. At some point there was an argument that escalated into a physical fight, according to police. Then, someone fired a gun, hitting Lopez.

Anyone with information about the shooting or what led up to it is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME to share that information with investigators.
