Tucson Senior Living Facility's Laundry Room Catches Fire
The laundry room at a Tucson senior living facility caught fire and residents were evacuated Monday.
TUCSON, AZ — The Tucson Fire Department was called about 12:45 a.m. Monday to extinguish a fire at a senior living facility in the 8400 block of E. Speedway Blvd. Tucson Fire members arrived at the scene within four minutes and saw smoke coming from the building’s east side; they called for backup immediately. Facility staff and firefighters then started evacuating facility residents.
Firefighters found a small laundry room fire caused by a clothing dryer, and put the fire out in 9 minutes. They confirmed that the fire hadn’t moved into any other rooms. The dispatch for most of the additional fire staff was cancelled, and firefighters began efforts to clear the facility of smoke.
The residents went back to their rooms afterward, and no one was injured.
