Tucson's Tanque Verde Swap Meet Sold For $7M

Denver-based company specializing in flea markets will bring upgrades to the park, including WiFi.

TUCSON, AZ — The name comes from where it began back in 1975. Tucson's a flea market, also known as the Tanque Verde Swap Meet, opened on the corner of Grant and Tanque Verde roads. Ever since, it has grown into a its own on Palo Verde. Now, it is changing ownership.

Founders Richard and Monica Chapin are selling the venture for $7 million to United Flea Markets, a Denver-based company, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

President Rob Sieban tells the Star he will be retaining the current management but will be making upgrades to the lot, including market-wide WiFi and building improvements.
