TUCSON, AZ — Tucson Police Department Officer Ray Smith reported a wrong-way bicyclist was hit in a head-on collision with a 2007 Chevy Silverado Monday shortly before 1 p.m. at the intersection of South Vista Overlook Drive and East 22nd Street in Tucson.

Nelson, who sustained life-threatening injuries and wasn’t wearing a helmet during the crash, was given aid and taken to St. Joseph’s hospital by Tucson Fire members. Nelson’s injuries caused his death soon after his hospital arrival.
