Fayetteville High School notifies parents of whooping cough case, third in last month (arkansasonline.com) — Parents of Fayetteville High School students are being urged to watch their kids for whooping cough symptoms after a third confirmed case of pertussis in the past month. The school and Arkansas Department of Health are reviewing immunization records, will notify close contacts, and recommend keeping severely coughing students home while consulting doctors or local health clinics in Fayetteville and Washington County.

Mid-South Berry Conference set for Jan. 22-24 (magnoliabannernews.com) — Berry growers across the region will gather in Fayetteville Jan. 22-24 for the 2026 Mid-South Berry Conference at the Don Tyson Center for Agriculture. Local and regional producers can hear research updates, attend a beginner “Berry Basics” workshop, and network with fellow growers, with registration required and tiered fees for association members and non-members.
   

3. Record sealing clinic gives ex-inmates in Arkansas a fresh start (nwahomepage.com) — A recent record-sealing clinic in Washington County, held in Fayetteville, is helping former inmates clear eligible convictions so they can find jobs and housing. Organized by the Arkansas Justice Reform Coalition with pro bono attorneys, the event walks people through complex petitions and explains which charges can and cannot be sealed under Arkansas law.
   

4. Arkansas prepares to appeal federal ruling blocking key voter canvassing laws (5newsonline.com) — A federal case in the Western District of Arkansas’ Fayetteville Division is at the center of a fight over new rules for ballot-initiative canvassers. Arkansas officials are appealing a judge’s decision that temporarily blocked photo ID, affidavit, and readability requirements, while grassroots groups continue gathering signatures for possible 2026 statewide ballot measures.
