- Fort Smith police officers responded to a train derailment between Kelly Highway and North 6th Street in Fort Smith on May 26. According to authorities, no injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved. Information was limited as of the time of publication. (KFSM 5Newsonline)
- The 90th annual Old Fort Days Rodeo in Fort Smith begins today, May 29! The rodeo at Kay Rodgers Park will be held all week, with reduced admission prices for family night on Tuesday and Wednesday. The rodeo will have new technology this year including a full HD replay, new sound, new effects, and new video. (4029 TV)
- The Fort Smith Symphony is about to celebrate its 100th season! Founded in 1923, it is older than all the other symphonies in the area, including the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. "RAVE: The Centennial Season," will feature a range of works including "Time Flies," a commission that will celebrate the anniversary. There will also be post-concert after-parties at the Bakery District and a huge opening night 100th-anniversary celebration. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)

- Two new murals were recently unveiled in downtown Fort Smith as part of the Unexpected project by 64.6 Downtown. Fayetteville artist Jason Jones and Brazilian artist Bicicleta Sem Freio added their murals to the more than 30 murals others in the project. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
- On Saturday, May 27, Fort Smith native Madison Marsh was crowned Miss Colorado! She will soon compete in the Miss America competition. (KFSM 5 News Online)
