- On Jun. 13, the Fort Smith Police Department arrested 48-year-old Patricia Garcia of Fort Smith for allegedly possessing over nine pounds of methamphetamine. Police enter a home at the 3500 block of North 31st Street after serving a narcotics search warrant and discovered 9.2 pounds of methamphetamine, 3.87 pounds of marijuana, and more than $34,157 in cash. Garcia was charged with trafficking a controlled substance, maintaining a premises for drug activity, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule VI substances with intent to deliver. - On Jun. 12, the Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD) released images of two suspects connected to the Jun. 11 attempted ATM theft at Simmons Bank, located at 4200 Rogers Avenue. Although the suspects were unable to steal the ATM, police say the attempt "resulted in significant property damage." (KFSM 5)
- Fort Smith Mayor George McGill and members of the city’s board of directors recently returned from a trip to Washington D.C. The mayor said the party discussed the Foreign Military Sales mission at Ebbing Air National Guard Base, spoke to lawmakers about the city’s sewer system issues, and explored applying for grants to fund new projects. According to the mayor, these trips are important to maintain relationships with representatives and their staff on Capitol Hill. (KNWA)
