• Fire forces closure of Heber Springs Smoke House restaurant (kark.com) — A late-night kitchen fire has temporarily closed the beloved Smoke House restaurant in Heber Springs, leaving 24 full-time employees without work just before Christmas. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze to the kitchen and part of the roof, and no one was injured. Managers expect repairs and health inspections to keep the longtime community staple closed for several months.
