1 Killed, 24 Wounded In Shooting Outside Arkansas Car Show

The car show is part of a community event held each spring to raise funds for scholarships and school supplies.

DUMAS, AR — One person is dead and dozens of others wounded after a shooting outside a southeast Arkansas car show Saturday, according to police.

Shortly after 7 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting during a car show, according to a news release from Arkansas State Police. One person was killed and 24 were injured when shots were fired into the crowd, police said.

The car show is part of a community event held each spring to raise funds for scholarships and school supplies, The Associated Press reported.

One person is in custody following the shooting, police said. Authorities are searching for possible other suspects.

Wallace McGehee, the car show's organizer, expressed condolences to the victims' families and the community.

"For something like this to happen, it's a tragedy," McGehee told KATV at the scene. "We did this here for 16 years without a problem."

Dumas is located about 75 miles southeast of Little Rock.
