Harvest Regional Food Bank Announces 2nd City-Wide Distribution this Wednesday (txktoday.com) — Families in Texarkana can pick up free food boxes this Wednesday, December 17, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lifehouse Ministries or the Four States Fairgrounds. Harvest Regional Food Bank will offer drive-through distribution of shelf-stable items and fresh produce, with one box per household and up to two households per vehicle, to support residents on both sides of Texarkana.

Miller County K-9 deputy fired, arrested for theft (ktbs.com) — Texarkana readers should know a Miller County K-9 deputy has been fired and arrested after nearly $9,800 in unauthorized withdrawals were found in the sheriff’s K-9 account. Officials say the deputy repaid the money, and the sheriff’s office is tightening financial controls while asking past K-9 donors to contact investigators.

3. Miller County budget includes 3% pay hike for employees (texarkanagazette.com) — Miller County officials in Texarkana have advanced a $30 million 2026 budget that includes a 3% raise and longevity bonuses for county employees. The plan also keeps a voluntary animal control tax, even though the city of Texarkana, not the county, provides animal control, and the full Quorum Court will vote on the budget December 22.
