13-Year-Old Accidentally Kills Dad On Hunting Trip: Reports

The child, who unintentionally shot his father, will not be charged, according to KCRA.

YOLO COUNTY, CA — A boy accidentally shot his father during a hunting trip this week in Yolo County, according to reports.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning in a rural area east of Dunnigan, where the young hunter unintentionally discharged a gun, striking the adult, who died despite on-site medical attention, according to the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office.

The son, who is 13, called 911 and performed CPR on his father, KCRA reported, adding the child will not be charged.

“The Yolo County Sheriff's Office expresses profound condolences to the grieving family and kindly requests that the community keep them in their thoughts and prayers, offering them the privacy they require during this challenging period,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
