16 CA Eateries Among Best Brunch Spots In U.S., New List Says
How does breakfast lasagna, ube pancakes, French toast or eggs Benedict sound?
CALIFORNIA — 16 eateries in California are among the best in the country, according to a new ranking of the best places to grab brunch from the crowdsourced business review site Yelp.
The top-ranked California restaurant is Immigrant Son Caffè, ranked at No. 2 on Yelp’s Top 100 Brunch Spots 2024. The Ventura eatery is known for its Breakfast Lasagna.
Others from California are:
- Breezy, San Juan Capistrano, ranked at No. 8 and known for Ube Pancake Stack
- Mr. East Kitchen, San Francisco, ranked at No. 10 and known for Thai Tea French Toast
- Toast Murrieta, Murrieta, ranked at No. 14 and known for Apple Pie French Toast
- Werewolf, San Diego, ranked at No. 18 and known for Pork Belly Benedict
- Sugar and Scribe, La Jolla, ranked at No. 20 and known for Brioche French Toast
- The Wild Chive, Long Beach, ranked at No. 27 and known for Stuffed French Toast
- The Getaway Cafe, Meyers, ranked at No. 32 and known for its Chorizo
- Acapulco Restaurant & Cantina, Costa Mesa, ranked at No. 39 and known for its Carne Asada
- Bacari PDR, Playa del Rey, ranked at No. 44 and known for French Toast
- Tata’s Cafe, Hawthorne, ranked at No. 49 and known for French Toast
- FARM, Palm Springs, ranked at No. 55 and known for Eggs Benedict
- Bulegreen Cafe Yard, Oakland Park, ranked at No. 67 and known for its Breakfast Pillow
- Lapisara Eatery, San Francisco, ranked at No. 68 and known for its Chicken Waffle
- Lokma, San Francisco, ranked at No. 80 and known for Turkish Breakfast For 2
- 8th Haus Cafe, Anaheim, ranked at No. 87 and known for Bulgogi Benedict
The 100 featured restaurants cater to a wide range of tastes with their diverse menus. These menus offer an assortment of items, ranging from classic brunch dishes like eggs Benedict, French toast, and mimosas, to fusion menus that blend ethnic dishes with American favorites, Yelp said in a news release.
Reservations are always a good idea.
To compile the list, Yelp looked at businesses in the breakfast and brunch category, searching for terms such as “brunch” and “Mother’s Day,” and then ranked the restaurants on multiple factors, including how often those words were mentioned in ratings and reviews in the past three years.
Adjustments were made for restaurants with multiple locations, with only the highest-rated restaurant included. Yelp also limited the number of restaurants per state to add geographic diversity.
