Lilo, located at 2571 Roosevelt Street, Carlsbad. This is a fancy, special occasion spot with a truly innovative menu that won its first Michelin star in 2025. According to OpenTable editors, “The team behind acclaimed Carlsbad restaurants Jeune et Jolie and Campfire have added this intimate, 22-seat tasting menu restaurant housed in a former boogie board factory that's the most ambitious yet. Star chef Eric Bost takes inspiration from the Southern California coast for his menus that include thoughtful dishes like spot prawns served with a sauce made of sea buckthorn, lime leaf, serrano pepper, and gooseberries. Everything is well thought out here, down to the drink pairings that offer standout wine, nonalcoholic beverages, or a mixed option, too.”
Healdsburg:
SingleThread Restaurant & Inn, located at 131 North Street, Healdsburg. A three-time Michelin Star winner, OpenTable editors say “few restaurants can rival the accolades of this Wine Country powerhouse: Three MICHELIN Stars, a Green Star for sustainability, and a spot on the coveted World's 50 Best Restaurants list. That's because chef Kyle Connaughton and head farmer Katina Connaughton have put together a one-of-a-kind experience that includes a 10-course Kaiseki-style menu that draws largely from the restaurant's lush 24-acre farm in Dry Creek Valley.”
Hermosa Beach:

Los Angeles:
Bestia, located at 2121 E. 7th Place, Los Angeles: According to OpenTable editors, this restaurant has been “packed since the day it opened in 2012. Ori and Genevieve Menashe’s acclaimed California-Italian restaurant has made a name for itself for excellent cocktails, wood-fired pizzas, and now-iconic dishes like slow-roasted lamb neck. Housed in a former warehouse, the cavernous, industrial-chic restaurant ushered in a new era of Arts District dining—and feels just as vibrant and energetic as it did a decade ago.”
Dunsmoor, located at 3501 N. Eagle Rock Boulevard, in Los Angeles: On OpenTable, Brian Dunsmoor’s namesake restaurant is the latest iteration of his ongoing exploration of American heritage cooking. It is, first and foremost, a restaurant for the community that surrounds it, and a loving expression of the relentless research that has informed his cooking for the last ten years.
Musso & Frank Grill, located at 6667 Hollywood Boulevard, in Los Angeles. This spot is ideal for special occasions and is considered a charming neighborhood gem by diners. OpenTable says, “Welcome to The Musso & Frank Grill where we provide an authentic Old Hollywood dining experience one would have received in the early decades of last century. We welcome you to Old Hollywood!”
Providence, located at 5955 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles. This three-time Michelin Star winner is one of only two LA Restaurants to achieve that honor, OpenTable editors say. “One of only two LA restaurants to earn prestigious three-MICHELIN-Starred status, Providence is what seafood dreams are made of. James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Cimarusti puts sustainability front and center in his blockbuster tasting menus starring the likes of Santa Barbara spot prawns and Golden Kaluga caviar. Expect excellent wine pairings and exceptional service that never feels stuffy—just the way dining at one of LA’s most acclaimed restaurants should be.”
Oakland:
Sun Moon Studio, located at 1940 Union Street, Suite 21, Oakland. OpenTable editors say of this first-year Michelin Star winner: “Sun Moon Studio landed in West Oakland with a bang in 2024, when The San Francisco Chronicle crowned this tiny tasting menu destination the Bay Area’s best new restaurant—and MICHELIN quickly followed with a coveted Star. Alan Hsu and Sarah Cooper, Benu and Per Se alums respectively, put seasonal California ingredients front and center in dishes like Monterey spot prawn with tofu and bold desserts like shiso ice cream at this intimate, four-table spot that's leveled up the Bay Area's elite fine-dining scene.”

BarCecil, located at 1555 S Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs. This bistro-style, casual dining restaurant won its Michelin Plate award in 2022. Diners can expect $31 to $50 per plate for the French, American cuisine.
San Diego:
Callie Restaurant, located at 1195 Island Ave, San Diego, according to OpenTable editors, Chef Travis Swikard’s celebration of the Mediterranean, inspired by his time cooking at Chef Daniel Boulud’s New York restaurant, Boulud Sud. There, he immersed himself in the flavors of Greece, Spain, Italy, Morocco, and the Middle East, embracing the region’s diversity, generosity, and warmth.
Cesarina, located at 4161 Voltaire Street in San Diego. OptenTable editors say that “Cesarina is a grandmother, a mother, a daughter—our personification of a nurturer who feeds and cares for her community. San Francisco:
Gary Danko, located at 800 N. Point Street, San Francisco. According to Open Table, “Twenty-six years after opening its doors in San Francisco’s iconic Fisherman’s Wharf neighborhood, Restaurant Gary Danko continues to refine its award-winning combination of classic French cooking, thoughtful and inventive use of local ingredients and personable yet impeccable service. This commitment to excellence and innovation has earned Restaurant Gary Danko a Grand Award from Wine Spectator, its Five Diamond rating from AAA as well as a coveted Relais & Châteaux designation. The restaurant has also earned several James Beard Awards, including Best New Restaurant, Best Service and Best Chef - California.”
House of Prime Rib, located at 1906 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco. OpenTable editors say this restaurant, open since 1949, is “a legendary destination is the king of San Francisco steakhouses. From luxurious carved-to-order prime rib rolled out on carts to chefs spinning salads to extra-large martinis with sidecars, every meal in the restaurant’s old-school dining room decked with ruby-hued booths is rollicking and unforgettable.”
Kokkari Estiatorio, located at 200 Jackson Street, San Francisco. Looking for a special occasion restaurant or a charming spot for a business meal? Look no further, OpenTable editors say. “Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. For the love of her, Orion forged the island for wild game and seafood to prepare elaborate banquets in celebration of their love. Today, we hope you will enjoy your own celebration as you dine at Kokkari Estiatorio on food “fit for the Gods” prepared with an Aegean palate and the style of innovative California fare.”
The Progress, located at 1525 Fillmore Street in San Francisco. A three-time Michelin Star winner, OpenTable editors dished on The Progress, saying “From the bright, two-story space to the shareable California-inspired plates, this MICHELIN-Starred spot from James Beard Award winners Nicole Krasinski and Stuart Brioza lives up to its motto: the greatest dinner party ever. Start with the whimsical caviar potato “cloud” before digging into show-stopping dishes like the Liberty Farm duck topped with crispy peanut fried rice—you won’t be disappointed.”
