41 CA Hospitals Among Best In The World, New Ranking Says

CALIFORNIA — 41 hospitals in California are among the best in the world, according to a new analysis that ranks the top hospitals in 30 countries.

The 2025 World’s Best Hospitals ranking from Newsweek and its data partner Statista narrows down hundreds of thousands of hospitals worldwide to the 250 best.

California hospitals in the 2025 ranking are:

• No. 5: Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles.
• No. 6: Stanford Health Care - Stanford Hospital, Stanford.
• No. 9: Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles.
• No. 11: UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco.
• No. 23: UCLA Health - Santa Monica Medical Center, Santa Monica.
• No. 29: Keck Hospital of USC, Los Angeles.
• No. 32: Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health, San Diego.
• No. 34: University of California Davis Medical Center, Sacramento.
• No. 38: Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, La Jolla.
• No. 43: Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Torrance.

Hospitals were scored based on an online survey of about 85,000 medical experts and publicly available data from post-hospitalization patient surveys on their general satisfaction, Newsweek said.

Hygiene and patient/doctor ratios were also considered, along with a Statista survey on whether hospitals use “Patient Reported Outcome Measures,” which are surveys filled out by patients about their experience.

The top 10 hospitals in the world included four U.S. hospitals:

• No. 1: Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota
• No. 2: Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio
• No. 3: Toronto General - University Health Network, Toronto, Canada
• No. 4: The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland
• No. 5: Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset, Stockholm, Sweden
• No. 6: Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts
• No. 7: Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Berlin, Germany
• No. 8: Sheba Medical Center, Ramat Gan, Israel
• No. 9: Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Singapore
• No. 10: Universitätsspital Zürich, Zürich, Switzerland

U.S. hospitals in the top 25 worldwide included:

• No. 13: Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles
• No. 17: Stanford Health Care - Stamford Hospital, Stamford, Connecticut
• No. 19: The Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City
• No. 21: Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston

Along with U.S. hospitals, the ranking includes hospitals from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
