The survey revealed a common theme among the top destinations was the preference for unique and less crowded locations. Families are increasingly seeking out places that offer a sense of discovery and adventure away from the more traditional, crowded tourist spots. This trend reflects a desire for more personalized and intimate travel experiences.

"Our survey highlights the incredible diversity of experiences available, from natural wonders to cultural landmarks, proving that unforgettable family adventures can be found in every corner of the country," said Billy Litmer, founder of Honest Eco.

California had five spots on the list.

No. 2: Channel Islands National Park

Off the coast of Southern California, the Channel Islands are celebrated for their remote and pristine natural beauty. The park offers kayaking, hiking and snorkeling in its clear waters, making it a favorite for those who appreciate outdoor adventures in an unspoiled setting.

The National Parks website describes Channel Islands National Park as a delightful break from the congestion and clamor of urban life. However, since the park encompasses five islands and their surrounding one mile of the ocean, the decision of where to go, what to do, and how to do it can be challenging. See more here.

The islands are only accessible by park concessionaire boats or private boats, therefore, advanced planning is highly recommended. There is no transportation available on the islands. All areas must be accessed by foot, private boat, or kayak. Bicycles are not allowed on the islands.
