Last month, the company released its picks for the top 10 toys of 2022, led by the Barbie Color Reveal Tie Dye Fashion Maker Playset and the LEGO Jurassic World T-rex and Atrociraptor Dinosaur Breakout.
“We are excited to bring you Geoffrey’s Hot Toy List for the 2022 holiday season. This year, families and kids of all ages will have the Toys“R”Us experience in our stores to explore and discover all of these fun toys,” said Adeline Trento, resident toy expert at Macy’s. “We have the coolest and most beloved toys of the holiday season, sure to bring joy and excitement to every kid.”
To celebrate the grand opening of Toys "R" Us, all Macy’s stores will host nine days of in-store events, which began Oct. 15 and run through Oct. 23. The promotion includes daily giveaways from brands like Barbie, LEGO and more.
Macy's representatives said the in-store toy shops will range from 1,000 square feet and span up to 10,000 square feet in flagship locations in Atlanta, Chicago, Honolulu, Miami, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.
According to Macy's, the footprint of stores may flex up an additional 500 to 3,000 square feet during the holiday season to offer a wider assortment of products.
A life-size “Geoffrey on a Bench” photo opportunity for families is part of each toy shop.
Toys "R" Us, which was once considered the "king of toy stores," filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy 2017. A year later, the toy chain permanently closed all of its remaining U.S. locations, after 70 years in business, CNBC reported.
