CA Bosses Among The Best In The Country: Report

Southern California News Group business columnist Jonathan Lansner used five metrics to determine which states have the best bosses.

CALIFORNIA — Californians have the third-best bosses in the country, according to a recent report.

Southern California News Group business columnist Jonathan Lansner used five metrics, relying on 10 years of Bureau of Labor Statistics data and Oxfam’s best place to work ranking, to determine which states have the best bosses.

California was third, behind Massachusetts and Washington and ahead of New York and Connecticut, according to Lansner, who said the nation’s worst bosses were in Mississippi, Georgia and Louisiana.

Regarding Lansner’s metrics, California ranked seventh-lowest for quits, ninth-lowest for dismissals, seventh-slowest for hiring and fifth-best for per capita income adjusted for cost of living. It was also ranked the best state to work by Oxfam, according to Lansner.
