CA Michelin Keys 2024: Like Michelin Star Restaurants, For Hotels

CALIFORNIA — The Michelin Star program for restaurants is a well known and established gauge of quality. The company has now branched out to grading hotel accommodations with a Michelin Key program.

Michelin Keys work the same as Michelin Stars, with hotels awarded from one to three keys for distinction, with three keys being the highest. The program was introduced internationally last year and in the US earlier this year.

Just 16 hotels earned three keys in the 2024 US ranking — seven in California, four in New York, and one each in Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Montana, and Utah.

According to Michelin, three keys indicates an extraordinary stay. "It’s all about astonishment and indulgence here — this is the ultimate in comfort and service, style and elegance. It is one of the world’s most remarkable and extraordinary hotels and a destination in itself for that trip of a lifetime. All the elements of truly great hospitality are here to ensure any stay will live long in the memory and hearts."

California Michelin Three Key Hotels 2024

Five of the seven hotels chosen for three keys are in Northern California. They include:

• Auberge du Soleil, Auberge Resorts Collection, Rutherford
• Canyon Ranch Woodside, Woodside
• Meadowood Napa Valley, St. Helena
• Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur
• SingleThread Inn, Healdsburg

The two hotels chosen for three keys are in Southern California:

• Hotel Bel-Air, Dorchester Collection, Los Angeles
• The Beverly Hills Hotel, Dorchester Collection, Beverly Hills

The Michelin Keys program was especially enthusiastic about three properties —
