The analysis considered everything from the number of movie theaters and marinas to access to the outdoors.
If you want to have fun, unsurprisingly, the Golden State is the place to do it, at least according to one new study. Personal finance site WalletHub ranked California No. 1 in its list of the most and least fun states in America.
WalletHub used 26 indicators to determine which states were the most fun, ranking everything from most restaurants and movie theaters per capita to access to national parks and the arts.

And even though California is one of the most expensive places for beer, shockingly, the state is the least expensive for wine — "due to the abundance produced locally."
When it comes to the great outdoors, the Golden State was ranked in the study as having the most scenic byways per capita and the sixth-longest ones in the country. The state also has the most beach access in the nation and the fourth-best weather.
Overall, New England was among the weaker regions when it comes to fun: Connecticut ranked No. 43, New Hampshire No. 42, Vermont No. 45, Rhode Island No. 48, and Maine No. 39.
