CA Prepares To Host World-Class Sporting Events Over Next 3 Years

"These events will drive billions into our economy, support local businesses, and create jobs while uniting communities in celebration."

CALIFORNIA — Some of the world's biggest sporting events are coming to California.

Over the next three years, the Golden State will host the NBA All-Star Weekend, X Games, FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl LX and LXI, and the LA28 Olympics and Paralympics in regions across the state. The events are expected to generate billions in economic activity, according to the California Governor's Office.

"From Northern to Southern California, the state is preparing to shine on the world's biggest stages, welcoming fans from around the globe to experience the energy and diversity of our great state," Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a statement. "These events will drive billions into our economy, support local businesses, and create jobs while uniting communities in celebration."

California will host the NBA All-Star Games back-to-back. The San Francisco Bay Area just wrapped up the 2025 game, which was expected to generate about $350 million, supporting 3,000 jobs and attracting 135,000 visitors. NBA All-Star 2026 will take place in Los Angeles.

Sacramento's Cal Expo will host the X Games over the next three summers, drawing an estimated 35,000 daily attendees.

The next two Super Bowls are coming to the Golden State. Super Bowl LX will take place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, and Super Bowl LXI will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Super Bowl LX is expected to bring $500 million in economic impact, according to the Governor's Office.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and will mark the first time the tournament will feature 48 teams. The Bay Area is expected to have 260,000 visitors and an estimated economic impact of $555 million. Los Angeles is expected to welcome 180,000 visitors and an economic impact of about $594 million.

Los Angeles will host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The sporting event will contribute toward equitable access to youth sports as LA28 invested $160 million in sports for youth across Los Angeles, according to the Governor's Office.
