This CA Region Among Top Spring Break Destinations, AAA Says

CALIFORNIA — Have you made your spring break plans? One of the top spring break destinations in the country is in California, according to AAA.

AAA and Automobile Club of Southern California booking data shows most travelers are looking for warm weather, with the Anaheim/Los Angeles region among the top 10 most popular destinations nationwide. The region landed at No. 7 on the list.

Florida is the most popular spring break destination, according to national AAA booking data. Orlando topped the list at No. 1, followed by Fort Lauderdale at No. 2, Miami at No. 4 and Tampa at No. 8.

No matter where — or how — you travel for spring break, it will cost more this year, according to AAA.

The average roundtrip airfare ticket is $820 for domestic cities, up 7% from last year, and $1,440 for international cities, up 2% from last year, according to AAA.

Hotel stays in the U.S. are 8% more expensive, averaging $660. Hotel stays abroad are 4% cheaper, averaging $740.

Domestic cruises are 27% more expensive this year, while international cruises went up 3%.

The cost to rent a car domestically is about the same as last year, with rental car bookings averaging about $645. International car rentals are 5% cheaper this season, with the average booking costing around $615.
