CA Store Using AI To Catch Shoplifters: Report
The service applies AI to gesture recognition to detect suspicious behavior associated with shoplifting.

WINTER, CA — Artificial intelligence is helping retailers stop shoplifting, including in California, according to reports.
Sukhdeep Kaur of Winters Market in rural Yolo County told CBS Sacramento that the store loses around $40,000 annually to shoplifting and that the market has been using a subscription service called Veesion to combat the issue.
Veesion applies AI to gesture recognition to detect suspicious behavior associated with shoplifting in a retail environment, adapting and learning autonomously, according to Veesion’s website, which said the system identifies risky behavior and alerts staff.
