CA Woman Is America's Oldest Living Person, Will Celebrate 116th Birthday

Edith Ceccarelli is the second-oldest person currently alive on Earth. Preparations are underway for her 116th birthday, FOX 40 reported.

WILLITS, CA — America’s oldest living person will celebrate a milestone birthday next week.

Edith Ceccarelli was born on Feb. 5, 1908, which means she will be 116 on Monday, according to Gerontology Research Group.

Ceccarelli is the second-oldest person currently alive on Earth, after Maria Branya Morera, who is 116 and lives in Spain.

Born in the Northern California town of Willits, where she still lives, Ceccarelli was the child of Italian immigrants and the oldest of seven children.

She married twice, first to Elmer Keenan, and, after his death, to Charles Ceccarelli, who died in 1990. Edith Ceccarelli lived in her own home until she was 107.

Her birthday has become a sort of annual celebration in Willits, where a drive-by parade will be held Sunday in her honor, according to FOX 40.
