We all know Coachella is about much more than just the music.

CALIFORNIA — As thousands douse themselves in sunscreen and glitter for Coachella Weekend 1, the rest of "The Golden State" prepares to judge the craziest outfits, watch the drama unfold and daydream about the amazing art, food and music.

This year's food lineup looks as delicious as ever, and it's chock full of young, funky creatives. California will be well represented with local favorites alongside some beloved chains. Here's a sneak peak at some of the best eats in the desert this year.

Getting Creative

Coachella will feature some unique newcomers this year, including Los Angeles based taco shop Todo Bien. The restaurant is bright and vibrant with walls covered in artistic doodles, arcade games and a colorful illustration on the windows. Their birria is sure to compliment the Coachella vibes — the restaurant has practiced by participating in a "techno taco" night in Hollywood.

Another Coachella vendor with an interesting story is Xiao Chi Jie, an online food brand that delivers frozen dumplings and steamers to customers across the country. The owners, Jen Liao and Caleb Wang, are both second-generation Chinese Americans who wanted to fill a gap in the American Chinese food market with accessible and authentic food, they told Good Morning America.

Most Expensive

Budgeting for a festival like Coachella is, well, impossible. The price to enter the festival doors alone is well over $1,000 even if you're camping. So what's another $375 for a high end dining experience?

Nestled away in the VIP Rose Garden is a 17-course sushi meal by Scratch Restaurants. The meals will run all day throughout the weekend and come with alcohol as well. With the price of a meal ticket comes a taste of the VIP treatment... entry into the VIP Rose Garden for the day.

Meatless

Of the 38 places to grab a bite on the festival grounds, six restaurants and sweetshops are totally meatless... how California of them.

Slutty Vegan, Ramen Hood, Man Eating Plant, Lettuce Feast, Craig's Vegan and Cena Vegan will all have booths at the festival. Atlanta-based food truck Slutty Vegan will serve their hilariously named burgers "Sloppy Toppy" and "One Night Stand."

Weirdest

Lay's will be hosting a 4D immersive potato chip tasting experience... you read that right. The tasting will be set up inside installations called "Potadomes," where attendees can taste Lay's potato chips less than 24 hours after they are made, according to a news release from FritoLay.

The chips will be paired with different types of music and musical experiences, like creating a beat with the sound of a chip crunch.
