Furniture, Appliance Retailer Offers Big Discounts Before Closing All 15 CA Stores

CALIFORNIA — Discount furniture and appliance retailer American Freight is offering discounts on its inventory online and at its 15 California stores as its parent company readies to close all its 328 locations nationwide amid bankruptcy proceedings.

The store's parent company, Franchise Group, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is closing all American Freight locations nationwide due to "sustained inflation and macroeconomic challenges facing the large durable goods sector," according to a news release.

Franchise Group in 2020 bought Sears Outlet and began running those stores under the existing American Freight name.

American Freight is offering up to 30% off the lowest ticketed price on its inventory of furniture, mattresses, appliances and more. The discounts are available in stores and online. All sales are final.

"Our goal is to deliver outstanding value to customers during this full chain closing sale," said Ian Fredericks, CEO of Hilco Consumer-Retail, which is handling the liquidation. "Everything is on sale and must be sold, and we recommend shopping early for the best selection."
