Gas Station Sashimi? America's Top-Ranked Gas Station Restaurant Is In CA

The deli serves lobster taquitos, buffalo meatloaf, fish tacos, lamb shank and ahi sashimi, as well as hearty breakfasts, according to Yelp.

LEE VINING, CA — The No. 1-ranked eatery on Yelp’s recent list of 10 Don’t-Miss Gas Station Restaurants of 2025 is in Northern California.

Tioga Gas Mart & Whoa Nellie Deli in Lee Vining came in first on the list.

“When you think about buying food at a gas station, you’re probably envisioning shelves of beef jerky and candy bars, hot dogs spinning on rollers, and refrigerated sandwiches in triangular packages,” according to Yelp. “But these days, selected spots are raising the bar on quality and creativity, offering dishes that rival what you’d find in trendy in-town eateries.”

Located just east of Yosemite National Park, the deli offers up lobster taquitos, buffalo meatloaf, fish tacos, lamb shank and ahi sashimi, as well as hearty breakfasts, according to the Yelp.

“Never would I have imagined that I would find THE BEST grilled veggie sandwich of my life at a Mobil gas station,” Yelp user Amy F. wrote. “The sandwich was huge and included portobello mushroom, mozzarella, eggplant, squash, lettuce, tomato, and onion all on a grilled bun with a side of fries.”

The restaurant is seasonal, open from late April through early November, so there’s still time for hungry travelers to stop in before it closes for the winter.

No. 2 on Yelp’s list is Hillbilly Hideout in Arkansas, followed by Unko’s Kitchen in Washington at No. 3.
