Newsom’s Memoir Releases In May: A Hint Toward White House Bid?
Some speculate that Newsom is taking a page from Obama's book by introducing himself to a national audience with his upcoming memoir.

CALIFORNIA — Gov. Gavin Newsom will publish his memoir in the spring of 2025 in a move that some speculate is a move toward the U.S. presidency.
With just two years left in office, Newsom's last terms have been filled with opportunities to present himself to a national audience, from taking a visible role in President Joe Biden's campaign and then Kamala Harris', to appearing on cable news shows to battle Republicans on policy issues.
But Newsom's upcoming book, titled "Young Man in a Hurry: A Memoir of Discovery", appears to be an obvious move to introduce himself to the rest of the U.S. as more than California's Democratic governor.

This will be Newsom's third book after "Citizenville, How to Take the Town Square Digital and Reinvent Government," and his children's book, "Ben and Emma's Big Hit," which was inspired by his struggles growing up with dyslexia.
As the Los Angeles Times previously noted, former President Barack Obama released his second book "Audacity of Hope" in 2006, which sent the then-senator on a national book tour just months before his bid for the presidency.

While Obama's pre-campaign book is lauded as one of the best, it's common practice for politicians aspiring to the Oval Office to write a book. Sen. Bernie Sanders, President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris and many more published theirs before hitting the campaign trail.
"Oh, there has to be a book. If a candidate has already published one, perhaps it’s time for another," Karen Heller previously wrote in a column on the topic for The Washington Post. "Books have become the telltale sign that someone in one office is serious about running for another."
