Over 270K Fords Recalled Because Batteries Could Suddenly Die
The recall affects 2021-23 Bronco Sports and 2022-23 Mavericks.

CALIFORNIA — California drivers who own a Ford Bronco Sport or a Ford Maverick may receive a recall notice in the coming weeks after 270,000 vehicles were recalled this month due to an issue that could cause the battery to suddenly fail, according to authorities.
The recall affects 272,817 vehicles, including 2021-23 Bronco Sports and 2022-23 Mavericks, which have a 12-volt battery that may experience degradation and sudden failure, according to a letter from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“Battery failure can result in a loss of electrical accessories, including the hazard lights, or cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash,” Recall Management Division Chief Alex Ansley said in the letter to Ford.
