ACROSS CALIFORNIA — Sunday's 97th Academy Awards closed out a competitive award season. Celebrities walked the red carpet outside the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, showcasing neutral tones and shades of red. Several stars, including Ariana Grande, Timothée Chalamet and Lupita Nyong'o, could be seen wearing the muted hues, while Coleman Domingo and Zoe Saldaña went for rich reds.
After strutting the carpet, the stars packed the theater, where Conan O'Brien hosted the Academy Awards and roasted the nominated films. He promised to keep the show running on time without wasting anytime, while proceeding to waste time in a long musical dance sequence.
Once the show got underway, "Anora" swept many of the film categories. The film took home five Oscars Sunday night including the best original screenplay, best film editing, the best director, the best actress and best picture.

The most memorable moment of the night came when "Wicked" costars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande opened the Academy Awards by singing their smash hit "Defying Gravity". The crowd erupted in applause and awe over their incredible vocals.
The Oscars also paid several tributes to stars and movie characters throughout the night. The strangest being a musical medley for the James Bond franchise which included no former Bonds, Bond girls or singers related to the movies. However, the medley included musical performances from Doja Cat, Raye, Lisa and a dance performance from actress Margaret Qualley.
The Oscars also paid touching tributes to music producer Quincy Jones and actor Gene Hackman, with Queen Latifah singing "Ease on Down the Road" from "The Wiz" and former costar Morgan Freeman speaking fondly about working with Hackman.
