Video: Teen Falls From Ski Lift Amid Dramatic Rescue Attempt

MAMMOTH LAKES, CA — A 16-year-old was taken to the hospital after dropping from a chairlift over the weekend at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, according to reports.

Multiple videos on social media show the snowboarder dangling from the lift, dropping through the air with a snowboard on her foot and hitting the ground, despite several people holding a net below.

The incident occurred Saturday on the Stump Alley Express, when the girl, who was not fully seated, slid off her chair as it started its ascent, a resort spokesperson told KTLA, which noted others on the lift grabbed the teen to prevent her fall and the lift stopped.

The snowboarder was taken to Mammoth Hospital to be evaluated, according to KTLA.

“Our thoughts are with the guest and her family,” the resort told the outlet.
