These 2 NorCal Destinations Among Top 5 Most Luxurious Weekend Escapes
Northern Californians don't have to go far to experience luxury, according to a recent survey.
CALIFORNIA — Northern California is home to some of the hottest destinations for a luxury weekend getaway, according to a recent survey by CardRates.com.
The credit consumer website surveyed 3,000 cardholders with significant point balances to determine their most sought-after destinations for a weekend escape.
Luxury camping in a California Redwood forest with plush bedding, gourmet meals and guided nature walks ranked No. 3, while a resort stay at Lake Tahoe with watersports, hiking, skiing or snowboarding plus spa services and fine dining came in at No. 4.

A beachfront resort getaway in Maui was No. 1 on the list, a visit to experience the northern lights and hot springs of Alaska was No. 2 and a trip to Branson for live music was No. 5.
"As we look at the spending habits of points-rich travelers, it's clear that their preferences are geared toward unique and memorable experiences," Jon McDonald, senior editor at CardRates.com, said in a news release.

"Our survey reveals a compelling insight into the luxury escapades these individuals choose to invest their points in, ranging from scenic beachfront stays to adventurous nature escapes. It underscores the value they place on quality and exclusivity, turning their hard-earned points into unforgettable weekend getaways."
Other California experiences included in the ranking were a resort visit to the cliffs of Big Sur at No. 69, wine tasting and vineyard tours in Napa Valley at No. 87 and a designer hotel stay in Palm Springs at No. 89.
