The highest-ranked California city on the list has an average home value of $232,672, according to GoBankingRates.
Five California communities were recently ranked among 30 of the nation’s best hidden gem housing markets by GoBankingRates.
The Golden State cities that made the list are located across California and represent places where “affordability and livability best intersect,” according to GoBankingRates.
“These hidden gems offer significantly lower home prices than their state averages, manageable mortgage costs and solid median incomes — along with strong livability ratings,” the personal finance website reported regarding the 30 cities ranked nationally.

- Redding, 21st, $394,762
- Hanford, 14th, $375,055
- Ridgecrest, eighth, $273,927
- Blythe, fourth, $232,672.
The top three cities in the national ranking were, in order from third to first, Wausau, Wisconsin; North Tonawanda, New York; and Lynchburg, Virginia.
