These Are The Best CA Colleges For Online Degrees: US News

Here's how many online degree programs rank in the top 25 nationally in California.

CALIFORNIA — A new report released this week by U.S. News & World Report ranks online degree programs at several universities in California among the best in the country.

The 2025 Best Online Programs rankings of nearly 1,800 bachelor's and master's degree programs at regionally accredited institutions master's programs are ranked in several disciplines: MBA, business (non-MBA), engineering, information technology, criminal justice, education and nursing.

Ranked in the top 25 programs by category from California are:

Bachelor's Programs

The University at Buffalo (SUNY) and the University of Florida were ranked No. 1 and No. 2, with a two-way tie for third place among the University of Illinois-Chicago and the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

No California schools ranked among the top 25.

MBA

Indiana University-Bloomington, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and Carnegie Mellon University, respectively, topped this list.

In California, the University of Southern California (Marshall) tied for No. 7. The University of California-Davis tied for No. 20.

Business

Carnegie Mellon University and Texas A&M University-College Station tied for first, and Arizona State University was ranked third.

In California, the University of Southern California (Marshall) ranked No. 4.

Information Technology

In California, the University of Southern California (Viterbi) tied for No. 8. The University of California-Riverside (Bourns) tied for No. 17.

Criminal Justice/Criminology

The University of New Haven, the University of California-Irvine, and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell topped the list.

The University of San Diego ranked No. 17.

Education

Clemson University and the University of Florida, respectively, placed first and second. San Diego State University, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the University of North Texas and the University of Wisconsin-Madison tied for third place.

Engineering

The University of California-Los Angeles was ranked first and Purdue University-Main Campus and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign tied for second.

The University of Southern California (Viterbi) ranked No. 14.

Nursing

The University of South Carolina and Saint Xavier University placed first and second, and Duke University and Ohio University tied for third.

In California, the University of San Francisco ranked No. 16.
