Agoura Hills Principal Named Elementary Principal Of The Year

Sumac Elementary School's principal recently won the regional honor of Elementary Principal of the Year.

AGOURA HILLS, CA — The Association of California School Administrators named Sumac L-STEM Elementary School's Principal their 2023 Principal of the Year for a region covering 50 districts.

Liberty Logan, who started at the Las Virgenes Unified School District in 2006, took the title for the local region including hundreds of elementary schools in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, according to the district.

"Our heartfelt congratulations to Principal Logan! This award is well-deserved and we are deeply grateful for all she does on behalf of our students! Please feel free to reach out to her to congratulate her on this wonderful award," the district said in a statement.

Logan has been principal of Sumac for six years, according to the district.

"Her ongoing commitment to providing a Dual Language Immersion Program is preparing her students to be caring, capable, and compassionate citizens of a global community," the district said.

Each year, the association celebrates a number of "outstanding" administrators across the state including superintendents, principals, special education administrators, student services administrators and more. Administrators were nominated for a number of awards, which will be recognized with a ceremony in November.
