Yousafzai has been an outspoken activist since she was 10 years old and was the youngest-ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize at 17 years old.

Yousafzai's story caught global attention when she was shot by the Taliban in 2012 at the age of 15. At the time, Yousafzai was already an outspoken activist fighting for young girls' right to an education, according to the Distinguished Speaker Series. She went on to start a foundation, write three books and tour the world doing outreach and education.
