Alleged Malibu Shooter Arrested in Agoura

Patrick Leach, 27, is accused of shooting a man in the chest on Winding Way in Malibu.

A man was arrested in Agoura Hills Wednesday on suspicion of shooting a man in the chest in Malibu.

The shooting was reported at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 27861 West Winding Way in Malibu, according to Steve Whitmore, a spokesman with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

Arriving deputies found a man sitting on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest, Whitmore said.

A witness told deputies that a man in a black SUV was last seen leaving the location after the gunshots were heard.  

A short time later, detectives spotted the vehicle on Kanan Road, just south of Cornell Road, in the city of Agoura Hills, Whitmore said.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop, and Patrick Leach, 27, was arrested for attempted murder. 

Leach is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
