LOS ANGELES, CA — Amid multiple days of often-heavy downpours, authorities rescued multiple people from area rivers, responded to hundreds of tree emergencies and recorded hundreds of traffic collisions.

The Los Angeles mayor's office reported the following as of 5 p.m. Christmas Day:

  • The Los Angeles Fire Department deployed teams to three river rescue incidents. More recently, the LAFD rescued a woman who was swept away in a San Fernando Valley wash Friday morning and unsuccessfully conducted another search — but were unable to find the reported victim.
  • The Los Angeles Police Department responded to more than 350 traffic collisions. None were fatal or involved serious injuries, according to police.
  • The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power were working to restore power to 7,783 reported outages as of Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, that number changed other about 4,000.
  • The Los Angeles Department of Transportation were working to restore five traffic signals that were out as of Christmas Day. On Christmas Eve, that number charged to two signals.
  • City crews were working to address reports of nearly 600 tree emergences, such as downed trees and fallen branches.
