Mar. 10: Saturday at the Adobe; Opera Talks

Take the kids to the Reyes Adobe, then head over to the Library for LA Opera Talks. Don't forget to take in a rarely performed Gilbert & Sullivan operetta.

Join us on the second Saturday of every month at the Reyes Adobe Historical Site to participate in hands-on activities and make art projects according to the month’s theme. Before your visit, have lunch in the park, enjoy the playground, or bring a soccer ball to kick. Activities are geared towards children ages 3-8 and are free with donations cheerfully accepted. L.A. Opera talks continue with their second in a series of three programs at 2 p.m. with a discussion of “Operas That Begat Broadway Musicals.” LA Opera Talks address the history, literature, philosophy, and fine arts within the context of opera. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

4. Jillian Keefer Sings at Center Stage Agoura

Jillian Keefer takes the stage at 12:30 p.m. to showcase her vocal talent! A 13-year-old vocal student at studying under the direction of vocal teacher Shaun Fleming, Jillian will perform a full set of her favorite songs with the Center Stage House Band. This event is free and fun for all ages!

5. Utopia, Limited-Classic Musical Comedy by Gilbert & Sullivan

See a dazzling production of Gilbert & Sullivan's rarely performed operetta "Utopia, Ltd.," featuring a live 5-piece band, elaborate sets, gorgeous costumes and large talented cast. "Utopia, Ltd." pokes fun at our politicians, financial institutions, judicial system, and self import, reminding us, even after 120 years, how little some things have actually changed! Performances, at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, are Fridays & Saturdays-8 p.m.; Sundays-2 p.m.; and Thursdays March 22 & 29-8 p.m. For ticket information, click on the website.
