New Stats Show Rise in Crime During Early Months of 2011
The figures show an increase in crime compared to the same time period in 2010.

The new crime statistics for L.A. County for January–February 2011 are in, courtesy of the Sheriff's Department, and the figures for the County show a drop when compared to the first two months of 2010.
In Agoura Hills the crime statistics are less clearcut. The five-year crime rate is down by 8.3 percent, but compared to last year, there's been a 26.1 percent increase. In 2010, there were just 42 Part 1 crimes reported in January and February; this year there have been 53.
By comparison, in L.A. county, the serious violent crimes that were reported dropped by 11.79 percent, and Part 1 crimes against property dropped by 7.1 percent, compared to the same time period in 2010. Overall, Part 1 crimes countywide saw a drop of 7.8 percent.

No robberies have been reported in Agoura Hills this year, as opposed to one in the first two months of 2010.
There have been four aggrevated assaults reported this year in the community, the same as in January and February of 2006; there were no assaults during the same time period last year.

Reports of burglary are down, despite the fact that eight have taken place already this year; there were 11 in the first two months of 2010, and 12 in the same time period in 2006.
Larceny theft is up a surprising 53.8 percent, as 40 incidents have already been reported since January 1.
There have been no reports of grand theft auto this year, as opposed to 4 in January and February 2010. No cases of arson have been reported in Agoura Hills in the past two years, nor have there been any homicides. There has been one reported case of forcible rape.
