Registration Open For YMCA’s Model United Nations

The program, sponsored by the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, begins March 11 for students in sixth through eighth grades.

Registration for the YMCA’s Model United Nations in the Conejo and Simi valleys is now open. The program, sponsored by the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, begins March 11 for students in sixth through eighth grades.

Model United Nations, which runs through May 4, brings students together with their peers from across California to discuss international issues, discover other cultures, develop life-enhancing skills and make new friends.

The Yarrow Family YMCA delegation meets on Tuesdays from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (31105 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village). The Simi Valley Family YMCA delegation meets on Tuesdays from 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (3200 Cochran Street, Simi Valley). Delegates should bring a laptop or tablet to each meeting.

The fee is $275 for YMCA members and $315 for non-members. Financial assistance is available.

Delegates will learn conflict resolution, speech, and debate skills, as well as how to prepare and give an impactful presentation. They will also learn the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
