Where to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

How and where to celebrate authentically in town and nearby.

Here's a little history about the holiday. Cinco de Mayo is held every May 5 to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

Now for the fun part: where to celebrate. Patch made some calls to find out which local eateries are celebrating and how they're doing it.

Agoura Hills:

Enjoy a Mexican dinner buffet, drink specials, tequila shots and the 'best margaritas in town' beginning at 5 p.m.The evening's festivities will include a live D.J. and a Mariachi band.

The restaurant will be open for lunch at 12 p.m. and remain open until 10:30 p.m. There will be live mariachis throughout lunch and dinner along with t-shirt give-aways and other surprises. The Cazadore Girls and the Dos XX girls will also be on hand. The Kentucky Derby will be broadcast on their large flatscreen televisions throughout the day.

You can sip your margarita outside on the patio. Look for the Corralejo Tequila girls with their speciality margaritas and other drink specials. They will have a regular dinner menu, and a Mariachi band will perform from 6-8 p.m.

Enjoy the house cocktail Lady Margarite (a specialty drink made with award-winning Alquimia tequila and a brand new twist), try a Chili-beer on cask, plus select menu specials from the kitchen. Music by Hey You starts at 10 p.m.

Enjoy drink specials, Mexican dishes, and stacks of tequila and salsa. Shaky Feelin' will perform live from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Calabasas:



Enjoy a Mexican buffet for $14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as well as a performance by Little Alice at 7:30 p.m. Giveaways will be offered by Dos Equis, Cazadores, Corona, and Margaritaville. Reservations for six or more may be made for indoor or outdoor patio seating by calling 818-222-6062.



A buffet starts at 5 p.m. and will cost $18 for adults and $9.99 for kids. Live mariachi music kicks off at 5 p.m. Call 818-880-8076 for reservations.
