25 CA Guinness World Records Set Or Broken In 2025

Californians made and broke world records in 2025, while others were lost due to the January wildfires, like one in Altadena.

CALIFORNIA — It's the 70th anniversary of Guinness World Records, and several Californians earned the right to be listed in the Guinness World Records Book for numerous reasons. From strange and stressful to successful, we identified our favorite 25 California candidates who made their mark.

Un-Hoppy News In Altadena: A is record lost to the flames

But first, one California world record was lost this year during the wildfires that ravaged Altadena. We begin our look back over 2025 at California record holders, paying homage to the Bunny Museum of Altadena, which lost its 60,000+ bunny collection in the California Eaton Fire.

The Bunny Museum is known worldwide as the encyclopedic museum about everything bunny. It housed over 60,000 bunny items, including antiquities over 2,000 years old,10 Rose Parade float bunnies, contemporary art, and everything in between. Most of the items were burnt and destroyed. Only about 20 items were saved, they said. A fundraiser has raised over $82,586 as of this report, and donations of bunnies are also highly appreciated.

California World Records Made And Celebrated In 2025

  1. No ‘Choking: Tallest Jerusalem Artichoke, Grown in Davi:
    In October, a Guinness World Records adjudicator measured a Jerusalem Artichoke grown by Zachary Bebehlor in Davis, according to the record: “The tallest Jerusalem artichoke is 5.17 m (16 ft 11.54 in), and was measured on 27 October 2025. Zachary says the plant's exceptional height was achieved by fertilizing it twice and by its ideal access to vertical sunlight.”
  2. Kickin’ It Old School: Oldest Scorer In FIFA World Cup in Pasadena :
    In June, a FIFA World Cup player’s goal made him the oldest to ever score in that event. During the Pasadena FIFA World Cup Gameon June 18, 2025, Sergio Ramos, 39 years and 80 days old, scored a goal for Mexico against Inter Milan in a 1-1 draw in Group E. Ramos, a defender, scored and broke a world record.

  3. No Stopping This Biggest Participation Game, Anaheim:
    In May, the World’s Largest Game of Red Light, Green Light took place in Anaheim. On May 21, CF Fitness gathered 1,423 people at Yorba Park in Anaheim to play the biggest game of Red Light, Green Light ever. The massive number of participants included students from Anaheim Union School District and families from the area.

  4. A Hopping Big Kangaroo Collection In Carmel:
    The most extensive collection of kangaroo-related items, 308 items by adjudicator count, was achieved in March by Rick Werner in his hometown of Carmel. “Since childhood, Rick has collected kangaroos. When he was young, he was given a Winnie the Pooh Roo toy that he carried around, which earned him the family nickname of Roo,” the website stated. “Over the years, Rick has collected kangaroos from all over the world.”

  5. Hoop! There it is at AGT: Hula Hooping Record Broken, Pasadena:
    The longest duration hula hooping around “the bum” for a woman was set on March 16, according to the Guinness World Records website. Andrea Hulamyhoop of the United Kingdom broke her own world record with an attempt lasting 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 6 seconds. “Andrea broke her own world record title during this attempt, and spent the entire time listening to music on wireless headphones.”

  6. Cocktails Stirred, Not Shaken, San Francisco:
    The biggest gathering of people stirring cocktails simultaneously took place in San Francisco as 881 gathered at the historic Treasure Island, to stir Gold Bar Whiskey from San Francisco’s Gold Bar Distillery, to attempt the feat in May and was achieved by Gold Bar Whiskey (USA) at the Gold Bar Distillery in San Francisco, California, USA, on 17 May 2025.

  7. You Should Have Kept Your Polly Pocket, Californias:
    The most extensive collection of Polly Pockets, 534 to be exact, was counted in February at the California home of a woman who calls herself Kerchie. “Kerchie loved Polly Pocket as a child, but gave her collection away when she grew older,” a Guinness spokesperson said. “In 2019, she decided to start a new collection and began buying some of the items she loved when she was younger. The first she purchased was a pink Jewel Magic Ball. She loves the concept of a tiny world where you can shrink down into your own little magical fantasy land.” The name Kerchie is also beloved in the Polly Pocket world, as the name of her pet Koala.

  8. From Snow White to Moana 2: Walt Disney Breaks Own Record, Burbank:
    The Walt Disney Animation Studios (USA), based in Burbank, California, became “The most prolific animation studio,” according to Guinness World Records. In July, the studio earned the Guinness nod for having released 63 feature-length animated films, the latest being Moana 2, according to Guinness. The studio’s first feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, premiered at the Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles, California, in December of 1937.

  9. Pick A Card… From The Ceiling? Milpitas:
    The highest "Card to Ceiling" magic trick was successfully measured in Milpitas in November, according to Guinness. Karissa Tang performed the trick with a card 3.965 m (13 ft) in the air. Adjudicators recorded the feat on Nov. 24, and noted that “Karissa is the first to achieve this record!”
  10. Teaching High Schoolers To Save Lives, Senastopols:
    The Largest Opioid Reversal Training took place in Sebastopol in October, according to Guinness. In October, 1,167 people gathered to break the record organized by “Micah's Hugs,” with support from students and faculty at Analy High School in Sebastopol, California. The event took place at Analy High School Gym.
    “A total of 1,202 participants were counted, with 35 disqualifications, resulting in a final verified total of 1,167 participants,” according to Guinness. “The session began at 11:11 a.m. and concluded at 10:41 a.m., takinga total of 30 minutes. Stewards from the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Petaluma oversaw the attempt, while independent witnesses—certified medical professionals, including National EMS–certified EMTs—verified the accuracy and compliance of the training, according to Guinness World Records guidelines.”

  11. Youngest Hula Hooper Lives, Los Gatos:
    A Los Gatos girl achieved the most hula hoop rotations around the neck in 30 seconds this year, according to Guinness. Viha Gedia twirled the hoop 128 times in March, according to Guinness. “Viha decided to pursue her own personal goal, to make that happen.”

  12. Annie Judis At It Again: Most Rope Skips On A Trampoline, Beverly Hills:
    Beverly Hills resident Annie Judis was at it again in 2025, according to records broken this year. The 81-year-old woman now has the most rope skips on a trampoline in one minute, achieving the goal 99 times on June 30, in her backyard.

    After a storied acting career in the '60s and '70s, Judis briefly dated Richard Burton, has lived an epic life story, and is a mother and grandmother. "She’s been a beauty pageant queen, a Playboy cover girl, and a Hollywood actress in the likes of Martin Scorsese’s Mean Streets, under the screen name Jeannie Bell." But her world records hold her heart and passion in her octogenarian years, as does being a fitness influencer.

  13. Oldest person to complete a “Farmer’s Walk” over 20 meteres, Beverly Hills:
    Judis was 81 years and 46 days old when she walked while carrying weights for more than 20 meters. She says “she practiced this walk numerous times to avoid any future injuries.”

  • One Punch Knockout, Los Angeles:
    In July, 1,107 people gathered to break a world record for performing a "One-Punch Man" Maji Naguri/Serious Punch. The record attempt took place at Anime Expo 2025 to celebrate the anime series "One-Punch Man’s" third season, which is set to air in Oct 2025. "One-Punch Man" is an action-comedy anime and manga series that follows Saitama, the main character, who is so powerful that he knocks out any opponent with a single punch. His killer move is “Majinaguri,” which means “Serious Punch.”

  • A Pair Playing Pickleball In Paradise, Rancho Mirage:
    A Rancho Mirage Picleball pair has secured the World Record for winning the most titles. The mixed team of Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns won 45 total mixed doubles titles between January 2022 and January 2025, according to the website. “The pair's latest victory came at The Masters in Rancho Mirage, California, USA, where they defeated Catherine Parenteau and Federico Staksrud in the final (10)-5-3-3. As of January 2025, Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters are the sport's most successful individuals, with total tallies of 145 and 137 titles (singles and doubles), respectively.”


  • Soccer Balls Spell Support For Fire Victims, Los Angeles:
    A world record was broken for fire victims’ support in September, in Los Angeles, adjudicators say. A group at PNC Bank gathered 1,461 soccer balls and used them to spell a motivational sentence, “Rise up L.A.” The record-breaking largest football (soccer ball) sentence spelled the message of encouragement after the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. “The balls were rolled into place by local families and then donated to youth sports programs,” they said.

  • Orange you glad you peeled those Mandarins? Menlo Park:
    Did you know there was a world record for “The most mandarins peeled in one minute (under 16s)? Leon Laniado, a Menlo Park resident, managed to peel eight of the little cuties in that time frame in May, according to Guinness World Records. “Leon loves mandarins and Guinness World Records,” they said. “He thought it would be a fun challenge to see if he could beat the record for the most peeled in one minute. He beat the record by two mandarins and made sure to eat all of them with his family after the attempt.”

  • Super Comic Book Find, California:
    A California family discovered they owned the most expensive comic book in the world, it was discovered this year. The family sold the Superman #1 (DC Comics, 1939) for $9,120,000 by Heritage Auctions in November of 2025. “The copy was discovered by a family in California, in the attic of their late mother's home,” according to the Guinness website. “It had been protected within a stack of newspapers inside a cardboard box, but was still able to earn a 9.0 grade. The $9.12 million total includes the buyer's premium.”

  • That’s a LONG Ambulance Ride, Hollywood:
    It was a long way to go, but Michael Mclean, Jacqueline Grange, Erik Axene, Symbiosis Ambulance, and Axene Continuing Education took the longest journey by an ambulance, 5,203 km (3,233 miles) this year. They went from Hollywood, California, to Hollywood, Florida, and it took 9 days to do it, from March 1 to March 10, 2025. “The route was driven by a California-licensed vintage 1970s Cadillac Ambulance.”

  • SpaceX Manned Polar Orbit - Largest Crew Splashdown, SoCal Coast:
    In April, the first crewed spaceflight to launch into a polar orbit was Fram2, a private exploration mission operated by SpaceX (USA) and crewed by Chun Wang (Malta, b. China), Jannicke Mikkelsen (Norway), Rabea Rogge (Germany) and Eric Philips (Australia) launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, on April 1 and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern California, USA, on April 4, a few days later, according to the Guinness website. “During a polar orbit, the position of the orbital path remains fixed. At the same time, the planet rotates beneath it, allowing the spacecraft to overfly the entire surface of Earth every couple of days.”

  • Most Skateboard Kickflips, Irvine:
    A grand total 38 kickflips was what it took to win “The most skateboard kickflips in one minute.” The feat was achieved by Dave Bachinsky in Irvine, California, on September 21, 2025. Of the feat, Bachinsky said: "I made my mark in skateboarding by landing the kickflip down the El Toro 20-stair in 2006. I wanted to see if I could set the record with the most kick flips in a minute."

  • Now That’s A Taco Tuesday, Valencia:
    Two people put together a total of 24 tacos to become “The most tacos assembled in one minute (by a team of two), according to Guinness World Records. The feat was achieved by LeAnn Wach and Ryan Wach in Valencia, California on April 26, 2025. The pair made a dinner party on the day of the record attempt, where most of the tacos were eaten. The rest were saved for lunch the next day, according to the pair.

  • Paper Airplanes Flying, Flying: Yuba City:
    A Yuba City resident folded and threw the most paper airplanes in under five seconds to win the record, according to Guinness. “The fastest time to fold and throw a paper aircraft is 4.94 seconds and was achieved by Trigg Kesterson in Yuba City, California, on January 20, 2025,” they said. “Trigg has always wanted to break a world record and practiced very hard to achieve this title.”

  • Backpacks All Lined Up In A Row, Los Angeles:
    The longest line of backpacks in a row world record was broken in June in Los Angeles, according to Guinness World Records. A total of 7,324 backpacks was lined up thanks to the Warehouse Shoe Store, on June 20, 2025. “All backpacks used in the line were donated to children in underserved areas of Los Angeles,” according to adjudicators.

  • Fore! Golfer Takes The Tee, Carlsbad:
    Better late than never! Carlsbad golfer Anya Bannasch broke the record for most golf tees in the hair, managing an incredible 711 of them when she took the challenge on in Carlsbad, California, in November of 2024. She is being celebrated in Guinness World Records for making a colorful spectacle of her hair this year.
