Unattended Cooking Likely Cause of Alameda Apartment Fire
Fire officials said the blaze was contained to the kitchen area.
Alameda, CA— Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at a three-story apartment building this morning in Alameda, a fire captain said.
The fire was first reported at 9:38 a.m. in the 2200 block of Santa Clara Avenue, according to Fire Capt. James Colburn.
Upon arrival, firefighters were able to locate the fire coming from the kitchen of an apartment, Colburn said.
Firefighters were then able to contain the blaze to the kitchen and eventually extinguished it, according to Colburn.

No other units were damaged as a result of the fire and no injuries were reported, Colburn said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but appears to have been the result of unattended cooking on the stove, according to Colburn.
