Recovered Firearm Arrest
On 3/12/2022, at approximately 5:06 AM, Albany Police Officers were dispatched to the report of a possible catalytic converter theft that had just occurred. Albany officers responded and located the suspect vehicle as it was departing the area. Officers contacted the two occupants of the vehicle when it stopped on the 900 block of San Pablo Ave. Both individuals in the vehicle were determined to have active warrants for their arrest and the driver was found to be in possession of a loaded and concealed “ghost gun” (no serial number to be traced) on his person. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident. During the investigation, methamphetamine and a saw blade (type commonly used for removing catalytic converters) were located inside the vehicle. Additionally, officers discovered a nearby community member’s vehicle had its catalytic converter partially cut in an attempt to be stolen.
The driver, an adult male from San Francisco, was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license, a misdemeanor warrant out of Solano County for failing to appear on a driving under the influence (DUI) charge, as well as multiple weapons charges and drug related charges.
